The
Solution:
Adventure
Virtual Learning is a last generation web based class management solution
that integrates various voice, video, and computer technologies into a single,
easily accessible system.
AdVenture Virtual Learning is a sophisticated application that can be accessed
from any browser with Internet access using an authorized user name and
password. Users in AdVenture Virtual learning can be scaled to any number
and fall in the following categories: Administrators, Teachers, Inspectors,
and Students.
1. The
Administrator is the overall application manager. This user has universal
access to all system settings and can moderate all student and classroom
attributes.
2. The
Teacher is assigned access by the administrator. The teacher can manage
classrooms and create new rooms. The teacher has full control over the
teacher module and can include multimedia content in the resizable blackboard
window.
3. The
Inspector is authorized by the teacher to participate
in a specific classroom and can inspect the public chat stream. The inspector
can only communicate with the teacher via "private chat".
4. The
Student can participate in the "classroom" and can "private
chat" with the teacher.

Teachers`
Guide
The Teacher's Guide lists the questions/comments and URL properties for
the selected classroom.
Each entry in the guide can be created as one of three types:
1. Text alone
2. Internet address (including a reference to a study)
3. Image or Multimedia (files of all kinds, saved from your desktop)
All three types of content can be stored and easily modified using the
ADD, SAVE and EDIT buttons. A new question may be added on top of the
screen, using ADD.
Insert
an Image, Sound or Video File into the Guide
This can be done by finding the file from your desktop (by clicking BROWSE).
The file will be saved to the server, when SAVE is clicked.
Insert
a URL into the Guide
To set a link in the teachers` guide, just select "Insert new Internet
address" and enter the URL in the URL column.
The teacher
can view all students, initiate private chats with all students, remove
students from the session, display special features during the session
and issue sample questions. The key functional areas of the teachers`
screen are:
Blackboard:
Top "window" reserved for examples. The blackboard is assigned
from the URL space in the Teacher's Guide and is controlled by the teacher.
By clicking the command above to "Clear blackboard," the teacher
can return every blackboard display back to the original/default screen.
Otherwise, every new example replaces the current one.
Chat Stream:
The largest area on the screen is reserved for the public chat stream
where all "messages" that are not "private chats"
are being displayed.
Expel
student: The teacher has the ability to remove a student from the
session using the "Expel student" feature.
Private
Chat: The teacher can initiate a private conversation with Students
via the private chat channel. To access this feature, the teacher gas
to select the student and click "Private chat", which opens
a separate dialogue window. This conversation is not displayed on the
general chat window.
Open a
Web Site: The teacher can open a web site and display it to all students
in the upper section of the screen by clicking on the specified link set
in the teacher's guide.
Open up an Image in the Blackboard: Similarly, any image stored
in the system can be referenced in the Guide and displayed on the blackboard
using the image reference URL in the system library.
View Students
Attributes: The administrator or the teacher can view student profiles
by selecting the student name in the student attributes list.
